If Only

If only this were really the way it was:

Jeff Danziger: On the Elevator to the Executive Suite

That would be awesome, if only the subjugated classes—the other 90% of us—would realize our awesome power and bring those responsible for our current plight to justice. Make them give up every dime and shred of power and settle our accounts. If only we were brave enough to jettison all the criminals instead of putting up with those only willing to work with them. I’m looking at you, pretty much all of the Clinton (Greenspan, Summers, Rubin and co. started it there), Bush (Paulson, Geithner, Greenspan et alia) and Obama (Summers, Geithner et alia) administrations. Complicit or complacent to the last, we should throw the bums out or throw them in jail, but we should, above all, make sure they never enjoy power and never have a cent to their names again. They owe us.

Where’s the revolution? Where’s the uprising? Where’s the indignation? Can we really just be full of hot air and completely incapable of bringing anyone to justice? Are we really going to let every other country do this whole democracy thing better than us?

So it seems.

America is deep in the grips of those who have brought it to ruin. They will wring the last nuggets of value out of us and leave a shattered husk on the blasted plain. It will be up to the poor to pick up the pieces, as usual.

Seriously, rise up. What have you got to lose?
