Description

In an interview just a few days ago, Ehud Olmert had an interesting slip of the tongue; here's the quote: <bq>Iran openly, explicitly, and publicly threatens to wipe Israel off the map. Can you say that this is the same level, when they [the Iranians] are aspiring to have nuclear weapons, as America, France, Israel, Russia?</bq> As discussed recently in <a href="{app}view_article.php?id=1481" source="earthli News">Robert Gates Confirmed as US Secretary of Defense</a> (first footnote), the "wipe Israel off the map..." comment has become accepted truth. Ahmadinejad, with his stupid-ass Holocaust conference, is doing nothing to dissuade the world from continuing to misinterpret his comment. He's a dumbass. Olmert on the other hand, openly acknowledged for Israel---for the first time ever---that they have nuclear weapons. <img attachment="jd061213.png" align="right" class="frame" caption="Let's Agree to Disagree">And, for this, the Israeli people (let's be honest, their media ... and probably the more right-wing, Likud-y part of the media) have <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/israel/Story/0,,1970861,00.html" source="The Guardian" title="Calls for Olmert to resign after nuclear gaffe">called for his resignation</a>. When he stormed into Lebanon a few months ago, destroying everything in sight and achieving nothing ... well, he's still here. Let's see if he survives this latest shitstorm he's created. It would be fascinating to see the Israeli democracy shitcan him for this slip of the tongue, but not for the destruction of a neighboring country, to say nothing about ratcheting up oppression of his own people (the Palestinians, duh) inside the country. <a href="http://www.antiwar.com/justin/?articleid=10155" source="AntiWar" author="Justin Raimondo">Israel, Alone</a> has more to say on the subject.
