Austria was clearly outmatched, but they collapsed to an ever-exciting nine-men-in-the-box formation at the slightest hint of offense from the Germans, which made it hard for Germany to capilatize or even create chances. So, it wasn't surprising that the lone goal came from a scorching free hick by Michael Ballack. <h>Croatia 1 -- Poland 0</h> The matches were shown at the same time, so there's not much to say about this match because I didn't see it. Croatia gets through ahead of Germany, though.
