Title

Decline of American Civilization, part XXXVIII

Description

I just want to remind people that <i>every single second</i> you wasted feeling outraged by Janet Jackson is time you can never get back. There are morons who are suing someone (I really haven't the foggiest who they aim to lay low for their suffering) for being forced to see Janet Jackson's nipple on Sunday. Their lawyer stated that <iq>...[a]s a direct and proximate result of the broadcast of the acts, (Carlin) and millions of others saw the acts and were caused to suffer outrage, anger, embarrassment and serious injury</iq>. I weep for this country. There are a million reasons to be offended by the Super Bowl Sunday, not least of which is that, in the midst of an advertising festival, an apparently good football game broke out ... and no one cared. Or that Moveon.org was not allowed to air a political ad attacking Bush's policies because CBS found it too partisan (but the Halliburton ad running now is A-Ok ... and the ad during last year's Super Bowl accusing you of being a terrorist if you smoked weed was patriotic as hell). I think <a href="http://sfgate.com/columnists/morford/">Mark Morford</a> summed it up best: <bq>[W]hat the goddamn hell is wrong with you people, it's just a breast, and did no one see Mike Ditka throwing a football through a tire to advertise erection pills? You want a disgusting image? Three words: Mike Ditka erection. Thank you and good night.</bq>
