Babbling Bush

Description

Wouldn't it be great to catch Bush on TV, finally, as a poster to <a href="http://www.plastic.com/article.html;sid=04/05/25/14195530;cmt=131">Bush Delivers Speech On Iraq - Solutions Or Politics?</a> <bq>You know, just once I'd like to hear the guy thank us for paying for all of this.</bq> One of the comments to the Plastic article, <a href="http://www.plastic.com/comments.html;sid=04/05/25/14195530;cid=32" title="Pronunciation of Abu Ghraib, or, my head explodes">Pronunciation of Abu Ghraib</a> starts off: <bq>Okay, it's not exactly a national secret that George W. Bush doesn't have the greatest diction. ... Furthermore, there are rarely hard and fast rules about the proper pronunciation in English of words and names from other languages. I understand all of this. ... he didn't just mangle the pronunciation, or use a pronunciation different from the several that have become common in the English-language media. <b>He sounded like he had never freaking seen the words before</b>. Like he had never been called upon to utter them up until this point. I defy anyone to listen to that portion of the speech and then tell me with a straight face that that was not George W. Bush's first attempt to pronounce the words "Abu Ghraib". I mean, my God: Is it really possible that the name of this particular Iraqi prison hasn't come up in conversation between the President and his advisors? ... <b>What, pray tell, do the President and his staff actually talk about?</b> (emphasis added)</bq> <a href="http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_052604/content/stop_the_tape_2.guest.html">Gore to Dubya: Condemn Limbaugh</a> is a transcript of Rush's show from the 26th (I'm assuming this because he pumps himself up so much that it would put a rapper to shame and it can't be an article). In it, he has the gall to make fun of Al Gore's pronunciation of Abu Ghraib when he quotes Gore saying, <iq>who said publicly that the torture in Abu Grab [sic - Ghraib]</iq>. See the 'sic' in there? Well, let's see how President Bush handles it. I got a sound clip of the 3 times Bush tried to say the word from <a href="http://uggabugga.blogspot.com/">uggabugga</a>; you can download it at <a href="{att_link}/bush-abu-ghraib.wav">Bush tries to say Abu Ghraib</a> (WAV)).
