Title

Reagan's Body's Casket's 747

Description

So I'd found that I'd stayed up late enough the other night to catch the Daily Show International Edition (CNN pushed it out to 1:30 here) and I saw about 5 minutes of headlines, before CNN broke in with breaking news. The breaking news was watching the 747 carrying Reagan's casket trundle up a runway. For ten minutes. Approximately every 2 minutes, the female announcer would let us know that <iq>you are watching the plane carrying former President Ronald Reagan's body taxi up the runway</iq> <i>as if it was the most significant event most of us will ever fucking see.</i> Seriously. Cut to shots of the crowd obediently waving their little American flags. Explain that the plane is coming to a halt. That it's making a turn. Remind us all who's in it. Mention that once the plane has stopped, the first they will do with the casket is to remove it from the plane. Constant commentary from the announcer about Reagan's fake history. She even quotes Maggie Thatcher saying something nice, instead of her more famous quote, in which she said <iq>...Poor dear, there's nothing between his ears.</iq>. How brain dead do you have to be to watch this crap? How much more to announce it. More breaking news. Guess what happens once they take the casket off the plane? They put it in a car. <bq>It puts the casket in the motorcade...it drives the car to the cemetery...it puts the body into the ground.</bq> I miss my Daily Show. Though watching civilization crumble live is just as entertaining as Jon Stewart telling me that civilization crumbled today. Meh. Time for bed. In other news, Ray Charles has died at 73. To my knowledge, he never, ever attacked a country for no reason whatsoever. Shed your tears for him instead.
