Chocolate Cake

Classic, fluffy cake (Easter 2005)


  • 2/3 cup butter, softened
  • 1 2/3 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2/3 cup baking cocoa
  • 1 ΒΌ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/3 cup milk
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting


In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

Combine the flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with the milk, beating until smooth after each addition.

Pour batter into a greased and floured 13 X 9 inch baking pan. Bake at 350F for 35 to 40 minutes, or until cake tests done. Cool. Dust with powdered sugar.
